Vidisco foX Trekker - X-ray in a backpack

Vidisco foX Trekker is a uniquely designed lightweight X-ray system for Special Forces, Commando Operations, or anyone who needs an extremely small X-ray system that can be packaged in a small backpack, including the X-ray Source. The complete compact Portable PC Based X-ray Inspection System is housed in a comfortable, specially designed backpack that holds all the components necessary to operate the system and is designed especially for rapid deployment of EOD forces.

This is a miniaturized version of the foXrayII system with the backpack replacing the hard case used for the larger system. The backpack itself provides an Operational Platform or "base station", not only carrying and protecting all the components, but also providing a realistic operating platform, allowing the operator to work with the system comfortably without ever having to remove the computer from the case  itself.

The foX Trekker is a superb example of special users’ demands being supplied and answered to by Vidisco. Special Forces throughout the military (Commandos, Navy Army and Air force EOD quick deployment teams) were in need of a small portable digital x-ray system to speed up their on site x-ray inspection time. The solution that we came up with was astounding.

This super small system carries a miniature VCU-6 (Video Camera Unit), Ruggedized CDU (Control and Display Unit) - Sun readable Touch Screen hardened Laptop computer, 50m of cable on a reel, the Golden XR150 X-ray source (150kV pulsed X-ray) and all other accessories. The complete foX Trekker System (including the X-ray source) weighs under 14kg and is the only Super Compact Backpack System of its type in the world. Furthermore, all of the software power and data base tools bundled into the standard foXrayII unit are incorporated into this miniature version.

Additional accessories are available, with an optional large format VCU-15 in a separate backpack or even larger system backpacks designed to accommodate bigger X-ray Sources and imagers (e.g. VCU-10). The standard foX Trekker has incomparable resolution for CCD systems at over 40 AWG and superior penetration (higher than 16mm of steel with any of the Golden 150kV X-ray sources and over 26mm of steel with a Golden XRS-3). As with all Vidisco digital x-ray products, the foX Trekker can come in nearly all languages supported by Windows XP.
