About Vidisco

Who Are We?
Vidisco Ltd. is a leading designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art digital radiology systems. The company was founded in 1988 as a sub-company of “Aran Electronics” specifically for the purpose of finding a portable solution to X-ray inspection of bomb shells. Today both companies are  privately-owned, independent sister companies. In 2008, Vidisco relocated to new manufacturing and office facilities in Or-Yehuda, a town in Israel′s central area. The company is currently 40 employees strong.

It comes as no surprise that Vidisco is the exclusive supplier to the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) and that we work closely with the Israeli Aerospace Industry (IAI). However, over 98% of our sales are for earmarked export. Vidisco portable digital radiography inspection systems can be found in over 75 countries around the world for an almost endless scope of duties including various applications in NDT (Non Destructive Testing) such as small bore pipe inspections in refineries and the petrochemical industry, aerospace testing, welding NDT and shipyards, as well as inspection of artwork and archeological artifacts. In the security field, Vidisco digital industrial radiography systems are used for applications such as bomb detection and disposal, as well as a tool for VIP protection, searches for drug/contraband smuggling, customs, forensics, and more.

Over 24 Years of Innovation!
We were the first company to offer portable digital radiography in the form of a PC-based X-ray inspection system packed in a single suitcase. This product revolutionized the security X-ray inspection industry by offering for the first time images acquired in seconds on a laptop screen, a one approach image cycle and remote control of the X-ray source far from the explosion range. Working fast and at a safe distance increased the safety of bomb technicians tenfold.

Vidisco continued to be a leader in X-ray technologies by incorporating the amorphous silicon flat panel technology into our product line in 2001, providing cutting edge high resolution and 14 bit dynamic range (16,384 Grey levels) images thanks to superb signal to noise ratios. In 2003 we introduced the thinnest digital imager in the world, with just 13 mm depth, which entailed further advantages of minimal backscattering and suitability to work with high levels of energy.

In 2004 we were the first to achieve portable Dual Energy X-ray images. By taking multiple X-ray shots at different parameters with amorphous silicon imagers, a proprietary algorithm can automatically present a colored image, differentiating between organic substances (drugs or explosives shown in orange) from metallic items (which are shown in blue or green, depending on their density). At a later stage, we were the first company to be able to do the same delineation with a fixed kV portable pulsed x-ray source. In 2007 we launched our latest CCD product line. With 10 bit images, it is still the only product, which provides the most sophisticated imaging of any CCD system worldwide. The XR-DE module, which was launched in 2008, is the first provem module and is simply pushed onto the Golden pulsed X-ray source (no screws, no assembly) and the source can be used in the regular manner while penetration is not damaged. in 2011 Vidisco launched the improved XR-DE Plus module that offers built-in wireless X-ray in addition to Dual Energy with pulsed Golden X-ray sources.

Our Products
In 2010 we launched the new and improved amorphous Silicon imager based products. Our Digital Detector Array (DDA) product lines features an all new Imager Control Unit (ICU) with dramatically increased capacities and built in wireless communication capability. The RayzorXPro continues to be the thinnest imager ever produced. The system is highly mobile and is the safest and fastest X-ray inspection solution available. The FlashXPro is a lightweight, robust large area imager, which provides 16 bit (65,536 Grey levels) highest quality images. Inspections are conducted efficiently and with lower dose and exposure times. Operator and environment safety are significantly increased. The newest addition in the XPro series is the cost-effective BlazeXPro; equipped with a ruggedized lightweight panel, it offers an X-ray imaging area of 260 X 320 mm, as well as high resolution - 3.97 lp/mm (127 µm pixel pitch). Vidisco also offers wireless, robot ready options and a variety of accessories that are compatible with all its product lines.

With the proprietary XbitPro software, the professional user will find user friendly macros for test procedures repetition, enhanced database storage and query capabilities and advanced analysis tools. The company places emphasis on teamwork and ingenuity, investing much time and effort into new ideas and technology. Vidisco is able to draw on the vast experience and background that each and every one of its employees has to offer, and is one of the oldest companies in the field producing truly portable Digital Radiography apparatus for different applications and uses.

Vidisco XbitPro software and systems support current industrial standards (such as BSS 7044; BSS 7075; ASTM E2422-05; ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel  Code, sectionV, article II; ASTM E2736 (including E2698 and E2737); ISO/DIS 17636-2; ISO/DIS 10893-6).

The company prides itself on its excellent products and good service with full ISO 9001-2008 qualification, adhering to the most stringent QC and QA procedures.
