About Vidisco

Who Are We?
Vidisco Ltd. is a leading designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art portable X-ray inspection systems. Vidisco was founded in 1988 as a subsidiary company of “Aran Electronics” specifically for the purpose of finding a portable solution to X-ray inspection of unexploded ordnance. In 2007, the company relocated to new manufacturing and office facilities in the center of Israel. The company currently has over 40 employees.

It comes as no surprise that Vidisco is the exclusive supplier to the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces). However, over 99% of Vidisco X-ray sales are earmarked for export. Vidisco portable digital ragiography imaging systems are used in over 75 countries around the world for an almost endless scope of security duties including bomb detection and disposal, VIP protection, searches for drug/contraband smuggling, and customs and forensics. These digital radiography systems are also used for many different applications in NDT (Non Destructive Testing) such as small bore pipe inspections in refineries and the petrochemical industry, aerospace testing, and the inspection of artwork and archeological artifacts.

Over 24 Years of Innovation!
Vidisco was the first company to offer a portable, PC-based digital radiography inspection system packed in a single suitcase. This unprecedented product revolutionized the security X-ray inspection industry by offering instantly acquired images on a laptop screen, a single approach image cycle, and remote control of the X-ray source at a safe distance from the explosion range. The rapid input and extended distance increased the safety of bomb technicians tenfold.

Vidisco continued in its role as leader in X-ray technologies by incorporating the amorphous Silicon (a-Si) flat panel technology into its product line in 2001. This revolutionary product provided cutting-edge, high-resolution and 14 bit dynamic range (16,384 Grey levels) images thanks to superb signal-to-noise ratios. This constituted the first time that truly portable a-Si flat panels could be taken into the field under difficult conditions and used to create real-time images for both Security and NDT applications. In 2003, Vidisco launched the thinnest digital imager in the world, with just 13 mm depth, offering key advantages such as minimal backscattering and the ability to work with high levels of energy.

In 2004, we were the first X-ray company to achieve portable Dual Energy X-ray images. Using a proprietary algorithm, multiple X-ray shots are taken at different parameters with a-Si imagers, which automatically present a colored image that differentiates between organic substances (drugs or explosives are colored orange), and inorganic substances (like metallic items, which are shown in blue or green, depending on their density).Subsequently, we were the first company to achieve the same differentiation with a fixed kV portable pulsed x-ray source. In 2007, we launched our latest CCD product line. With 10 bit images, it is still the only product to provide the most sophisticated imaging of any CCD system worldwide. The Vidisco  XR-DE module, launched in 2008, is simply inserted on a Golden pulsed X-ray source (no screws, no assembly) for regular and continued use of the source with undiminished penetration. In 2011 Vidisco launched the improved XR-DE Plus, which offers built in wireless X-ray in addition to dual energy with pulsed X-ray sources.

Our Products
We currently offer the foXrayIIe 10 bit CCD product line with imagers in three sizes: 10”,16”,22”. Vidisco X-ray systems are truly portable and fully battery operated. There is no need to ever change batteries down range. The X-ray systems are housed in a single ruggedized case on wheels or backpack, and they can be easily trekked to any suspect object by a lone individual. The super-sized VCUe-22” imager is large enough to inspect a carry-on suitcase in just one shot.

In 2010, we launched our new and improved a-Si imager-based products. Our Digital Detector Array (DDA) product line features an all new Imager Control Unit (ICU) with dramatically increased capacities and built-in wireless communication. The RayzorX continues to be the thinnest imager ever produced. The highly mobile system is the safest and fastest digital inspection solution available. The new FlashX is a lightweight, robust large-area imager, which provides 16 bit (65,536 Grey levels) top-quality images. Inspections are conducted efficiently and with lower dose and exposure times, thereby significantly enhancing operator and environmental safety. The newest addition in the X series is the cost-effective BlazeX; equipped with a ruggedized lightweight panel, it offers an X-ray imaging area of 260 X 320 mm, as well as high resolution - 3.97 lp/mm (127 µm pixel pitch). Vidisco also offers a wide range of tools including wireless systems,  robot-ready options, and a variety of other accessories that are compatible with all its product lines.

For NDT users, Vidisco offers the sophisticated Pro product line, which is basically a laboratory in the field.  Never before has the NDT specialist been equipped with such a powerful field inspection unit. Coupled with the proprietary XbitPro software, the professional operator will find user-friendly macros for test procedures, enhanced database storage and query capabilities, as well as advanced analysis tools.

The company places emphasis on teamwork and ingenuity, investing much time and effort in new ideas and technology. Vidisco is able to draw on the vast military experience and background that many of its employees have to offer, and is one of the most veteran companies in the field to produce portable digital radiology apparatus for different applications and uses. It prides itself on excellent products and good service with full ISO 9001-2008 qualification, adhering to the most stringent QC and QA procedures.
