foXrayII PC Based Portable X-Ray Inspection System - System Options

Hardware Options:

4 VCUs

4 different X-ray to CCD interchangeable VCUs
4 different interchangeable VCUs

All Vidisco VCU's provide over two weeks of battery operation when fully charged and have built-in batteries and smart chargers for easy real-life operation. In operational terms, this means that the operator never has to approach the VCU when on target no matter how long the inspection may take. System charging takes generally 1-2 hours. All Vidisco Imagers can be powered by 110/220 AC power, or external DC without any additional cables needed, and automatically switch over to battery operation when required. All VCU's are self-standing, rectangular in shape, tripod mountable and fully interchangeable.

VCU Type Imaging Area Dimensions (h,w,d)

VCU-6 - Miniature VCU, smallest in the world, can be used to slide into very tight areas. The complete foX Trekker backpack unit, which has room for the VCU-6, weighs under 14kg and allows for the entire unit to be packaged into a small backpack with all the features of the full size foXrayII system.

VCU-10 - standard unit allows for 8x10" imaging area with excellent resolution and penetration. Minimum 1.3 lp/mm and 40 AWG. Lightest 8x10" imager (5kg) sold today.

VCU-15 - large view VCU that can be packaged in a separate carrying case or even in a commando backpack with room for any of the Golden X-ray sources.

VCU-17 - largest imaging area VCU with minimum depth (21cm) packaged into a protective carrying case.

All Vidisco VCU's are fully interchangeable and have the smallest depth and lightest weight of any competing comparable VCU with the same imaging area.

External Camera Option:

x-ray external camera for extra database strength

Allows for attaching an external video camera to any of the VCU's, (more than 50m from the computer) drawing its power from the VCU battery and providing external live and "grabbed" shots of any item X-rayed. These external images are an integral part of the data base and are automatically saved as part of the X-ray record if desired.

Robot Operation:

x-ray camera unit integrated into robot

The only systems in the world that can be fully integrated for robot operation, not using the robot only as a "mule", but actually integrated into the robot wireless or fiber optic wired system and control station - this enables the usage of the robot lines of communication.

Packaging Options:

Standard foXrayII comes in ONE ruggedized Pelican case, designed to be a protective platform for operation of the system. The specially designed case efficiently and conveniently houses all components needed including the X-ray source and provides an operating platform or "base station" protecting the computer, allowing the operator to work in difficult conditions. The Standard foXrayII system can also be packaged into a non-obtrusive suitcase for covert operations. In addition the foX Trekker system provides a backpack reduced size option. The foX Trekker is the smallest and lightest portable X-ray system in the world.

DWV (Digital Wireless Video) Option

Digital Wireless Video accessory eliminates the need for a cable connecting to the VCU and operates over 200m with standard antennas, DWV (Digital Wireless Video) Option for vidiscos x-ray unitsand over a kilometer with long range antennas, the DWV unit has no battery, hence no recharging needed - it draws its power directly from any of the VCU's. A PCMCIA transceiver card is used with the computer. The DWV unit can be used with any Vidisco system configuration. The system utilizes 2.4 Ghz direct sequence spread spectrum modulation with 128bit key using RC4 encryption and Vidisco proprietary encoded protocol, allowing for extremely fast data transmission and reliability.

WLX (Wireless X-ray) Option

Wireless X-ray option eliminates the cable connecting between the X-ray source and VCU. This separate option can be used with any X-ray source and provides full flexibility allowing for partial wireless solutions when desired (i.e. X-raying through a wall), and can be moved from any X-ray source to an alternative source simply by attaching it to the source connector.

Automobile Inverter

Allows for unlimited operation providing power to both the VCU and computer from any vehicle battery. No repeated approaches to the VCU ever needed.

Cable Extensions

50m and 100m options on external reel. These cables can be used as stand-alone options or connected to the 50m standard cable provided with every Vidisco unit.
